Another C64 replacement board with slightly different concept than Ultimate 64 board will be released in the first week of august 2017.
The Commodore 64 Reloaded MK2 is a C64 Motherboard for building a C64 on your own. This board is shipped with empty ZIF sockets for chips such as CPU, port chips, SID and VIC chips. All other components as PLA, RAM, clock generator is already on board.
So to use this board you will need to supply the key chips on your own:
- one CPU 6510 or 8500
- two CIA 6526 or 8521
- one of VIC chip 6567, 6569, 8565 or 8562
- one or two SID chips 6581 and/or 8580
C64 Reloaded MK2 is jumper free it will automatically identify the installed chips, set the correct voltages for the chips and configures the filter-capacitors for your SID combination.
Commodore 64 Reloaded MK2 have rewritable flash ROM so you can flash on your own up to 3 different Kernal ROMs with USB cable from your Linux, Mac, PC or Amiga.
With this approach Commodore 64 Reloaded MK2 board special is that it maintain 100% hardware compatibility and without any jumper or software settings. All of that for 184,95 €.
As there is a lot of free space on motherboard, we criticize why author did not add internal SD slot and atmega 2560 chip for SD2IEC and if we compare it wit Ultimate 64 board it is to expensive.
